What is The Grief Recovery Method®  ?

The Grief Recovery Method® (GRM) is a structured, evidence-based program that helps individuals work through their grief and come to a place of acceptance and healing. The program was developed by John W. James and Russell Friedman, who co-authored the book “The Grief Recovery Handbook” in 1988.

The GRM is based on the idea that unresolved grief can have a profound and negative impact on an individual’s life, causing them to feel stuck and unable to move forward. The method focuses on helping individuals identify and process their emotions, work through their pain and hurt, and ultimately come to a place of acceptance and healing.

The only evidence-based Grief Recovery program in the world.

What Does Evidence Based Mean?

The term “Evidence Based” refers to the existence of research that has investigated how the Grief Recovery Method® operates, and has been published in a peer-reviewed journal. The findings of Drs. Rachael Nolan and Jeff Hallam’s research were published in two articles in “The American Journal of Health Education,” and were presented at various conferences.

This means that their research demonstrates that the Grief Recovery Method® is more than just a “best practice” or a “promising approach” in dealing with the emotional pain of loss. It indicates that there is a high level of confidence that those who follow the Grief Recovery Method® Action Plan can discover happiness in their lives despite the loss they have experienced.

Helping you by Addressing the things they wished were different.

The Grief Recovery Method® assists mourners in addressing the things they wished were different or better. It provides them with an opportunity to discuss their dreams and aspirations for the future, which are not the ones they had originally planned. It enables them to confront the unspoken words that they have been carrying, as well as the lost relationship that they thought would cause them pain for the rest of their lives. Although it may seem too good to be true, this research demonstrates that this vision of a better tomorrow is entirely achievable, thanks to the Grief Recovery Method® Action Plan!

The program involves a series of structured and supportive steps intended to help individuals work through their grief. These steps include recognizing and resolving the emotional “unfinished business” that often remains following a significant loss, exploring the myths and misconceptions about grief that can impede healing, and learning effective communication skills to help individuals express their emotions and needs.

Supportive Steps

The GRM is a proactive and empowering approach to grief that focuses on taking action to help individuals move forward in their healing journey. It encourages individuals to take responsibility for their own healing, rather than relying on others to “fix” their pain. By working through the program, individuals can gain the tools and strategies they need to work through their emotions and find peace and comfort in the memories of their loved one.

Overall, the GRM is a powerful and effective approach to grief that can provide valuable support and guidance to those who are struggling to come to terms with their loss.
